Is it any good? Putting a scoop of Sundae on top of your Meatball? I wouldn’t know, I haven’t tried that trick before. That’s why I read this “Meatball Sundae” book. It was considered a light reading, the page is only 200s and it comes in a small package. I spend about 4 days reading the book on and off and it’s actually my fastest reading time. Considering I still have 2 books that I haven’t finished reading for almost 2 months now. And that reminds me, that means I still have 7 more books to read (whoa, that’s a lot of reading).
Back to the Meatball Sundae. It was one of those OK to read book. It filled itself with Godin’s point of view upon the online world. How you should consider rethinking your basic organization methods and the new way of communicating and marketing. You will always have to side, your base of organization and then you would have the topping (communication and marketing method). What kind of topping you choose for your base is perfectly up to you, but Seth is trying to point you to the sensible direction in choosing your toping. Being in sync with the topping of chosen topping is essential for the rest of your business.
If you already done the synchronizing thing, then you could step into the next chapter which talks about 14 things that you should consider when you adjust the chosen topping. In one of those 14 things, Seth is talking about a lot of things including Long Tail and how to amplify the voice of consumer. It’s more like choosing another topping to put on top of your topping to make the overall servings looks tempting.
All and all, I give this book a three star (out of five) just because:
I like the fact that this book keeps it short
I like the way Seth tells a story
I like the fact that the book comes in a small form
Nothing new about the marketing fact, but the book is still nice to read
Curious what Meatball Sundae might look like? Here’s the book:
