Sequined Dress

May4

I know…I know, it’s a little bit over the top. It’s not like I’m going to a red carpet event anytime soon. But, I still can’t resist when I found a sequined black dress at Debenhams which only cost around 200.000 IDR and at my 12 size.

Having giggled all the way to the changing room, together with all other dresses to fit (YES, I’m having a “fitting a dress therapy” to beat my tiredness of office routine) I am preparing for a cute outcome.

But, well nothing cute comes out as the outcome. I manage to snug perfectly to the dress. Shame it still shows my tummy and my big hips. Not the kind of red carpet dress I would like to choose (If I ever had a red carpet moment that is). To sum up the experience with the sequined dress:

It makes you look 10% fatter. Perhaps it’s the shiny effect it has, it makes you somehow bigger.

It itches like crazy. I put my arms down and it felt very itchy when it landed on the sequins.

I don’t have any red carpet event any time soon, so I’ll pass the dress.

Btw, I wonder how on earth you wash a sequined dress. Well one of the way is to wash it in an inside out way. This allows fabric to be clean while preserving the quality of the sequins or beads. It also reduces the wear and tear on the decorative touches of a garment, so that it may last longer.

I have fun trying out a sequined dress, you should try one. If you had the chance.
