Stardust
I’ve read this book because of the film…Ok..Ok so others are reading the book first – then they see the movie. But I don’t know why I did the opposite. The movie got a mild review, but how about the book? I find it as not that good but also not that bad.
I flipped myself trough the first couple of chapter and thinking when will the magic start? This is supposed to be a fairy tale kind of book with lot’s of magic etc. But then after a few yawn I find myself in the chapter when Tristan started his Journey to find the fallen star. Yes readers, the charm hasn’t started until the fourth chapter.
Did Tristan find the fallen star? Yes. Is she beautiful? She’s a star, off course she’s beautiful, so beautiful that Tristan although appears to hate her then fall in love and end up saving her over and over again. The story then evolve from a hate you much to love you much.
Yes, if you spent every minute within 7×24 hours with someone, I think you are bound to love the person. Even if you hate them at the first place. That is because you passed so many stages, you pass the “hello my name is…” stage, you then pass the “when I was a little kid…” stage, you will even pass the “My darkest secrets is…” stage.
And although this book doesn’t really have a big fight scene, I still think that the fighting part in the mountain inn is quite thrilling. But then the other is just…plain. I kind of figure out the overall connection of the story in the middle of the book. And kind of bummed because it turns out to be true, I always like unpredictable ending.
I recommend this book as a light reading in a quite weekend at your home, after seeing some fairy tale movie perhaps
